Baralikkadu



Baralikadu is a small tribal village which is situated near Pillur dam. It is an undisclosed spot which inspires nature lovers.

The way is a hilly terrain enriched with green vegetation with a pleasant climate providing many view points to have a awe for these scenes.

The ride covers a distance of 5 km on the cool water with mountains and forest on either side gives us a rare sight. You can also stop by the banks to have a walk into the jungle as you like. Walking into the bushes and marshes, along some seasonal streams, enjoying fresh air really energising us, inhaling the smell of the flowers and so on. A nice bath in the running water with the pleasant breeze giving a cooling effect and a great relief.


The spot is located at an easy destination reachable for people from Coimbatore, Tirpur, Ooty, Metupalayam, etc. Only on Saturdays and Sundays.

A really fantastic option for a one day tour from Coimbatore. The package by the Forest Department contains

1) A Coracle Ride in Pillur Dam- There are 10 coracles provided with cusion seating. The ride covers a distance of 5 km on the cool water with mountains and forest on either side gives us a rare sight. Having a round O in the water is also an other notable experience. You can also stop by the banks to have a walk into the jungle as you like.

2) A Delicious Lunch by the tribal women self help group along with welcome drink-


Menu- Chappathi, Variety Rice, Ragi ball with fish curry, Curd Rice, Fruits , Sweet, Vegetable salad, Minaral Water.

3) Trekking along the Athikadavu River- Walking into the bushes and marshes, along some seasonal streams, enjoying fresh air really energising us, inhaling the smell of the flowers and so on.

4) River bath in Athikadavu river.- We may get little tired and sweat and is in need of a bath. A nice bath in the running water with the pleasant breeze giving a cooling effect and a great relief.


Its a perfect one day program for all who love eco tourism and nice option for Coimbatorians to have a one day outing. As you have to travel in between to reach the different spots, you should have your own conveyance as Forest Department doesn't have commuting facilities.

The entry fees for adult Rs 300 /- per head.
The entry fees for children Rs 200 /- per head
No charges for Children below five years.

Palamalai, is a small hill near near the sub-urban areas of Coimbatore. From the center of the city, it is located at around 25 KM distance. One needs to go to the Mettuppalayam Road, Periyanayakan Pirivu, Kovanoor and Palamalai.
